Neapolitan Music

Take a trip to Naples, Italy with a program of Neapolitan music that was arranged by Ryan Opera Center pianist, Mario Antonio Marra. Featuring a variety of voices from the Ryan Opera Center the program will feature music by Gaetano Donizetti, Paolo Tosti, Roberto Falvo, and Ernesto de Curtis. Join us for this colorful and passionate program of Neapolitan music.

Meet the Host

Colin Ure was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and studied music, majoring in voice, at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Later he sang professionally throughout the UK and farther afield. In 1992, he became an artists’ manager, working for several British agencies for which he advised, developed, and structured the careers of young singers worldwide. In 2005 he was appointed as dramaturg for the Houston Grand Opera, where he lectured, wrote articles, and prepared supertitle translations. Colin now lives in Chicago, working as a freelance dramaturg. For the Chicago Humanities Festival, he has interviewed Renée Fleming, Jessye Norman, Ana María Martínez, Jimmy López, and Nilo Cruz. For Lyric Opera of Chicago, he has given pre-performance lectures, written and recorded podcast, and prepared supertitle translations.
