Vieira String Quartet

Vieira Quartet is a string quartet comprised of students who are Fellow scholarship recipients at the Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) Academy. The members include 16 year old violinist Maya Anjali Buchanan, 17 year old violinist Karisa Chiu, 18 year old violist Steven Song, and 18 year old cellist Nathan Mo. Maya and Karisa study violin with Almita Vamos, Steven studies viola with Geraldo Ribiero and Nathan studies cello with Hans Jorgen Jensen. The quartet is coached by Rodolfo Vieira, the founding member of the Botelho Vieiera Piano Quartet and a string faculty member at MIC Academy.

The quartet was awarded first prize at the 2017 Rembrandt Chamber Music Competition, grand prize at the 2017 A.N. & Pearl G. Barnett Chamber Competition and most recently, Vieira placed second at the 2017 M-Prize International Chamber Music Competition at the University of Michigan.
