WHAT
Classical Music Goes to the Movies
with John Tibbets

WHERE
WFMT Studios
5400 N. St. Louis Ave. Chicago, IL 60625

WHEN
Saturday, January 31, 2015, 9:00 am

Cost: $150.00

There is always a STORY in HISTORY.

The lives and music of the great classical and popular composers have been the grist for filmmakers since the earliest days of the film medium. What we know comes as much from film and television as from the history books. “Story” and “History” are interchangeable. As Peter Shaffer said about the controversy surrounding AMADEUS’ historical inaccuracies, “Our concern…was not with facts but the undeniable laws of drama.”

Author and broadcaster John C. Tibbets will lead discussions and screenings that will test “history” against “story” in movies and documentaries. Some of the classical and popular composers featured in film clips are Frederic Chopin, Franz Schubert, Stephen Foster, Frederick Delius, Franz Liszt, George Gershwin, and Robert Schumann.

The cost for the all day Immersion is $150, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch. For more information call (773) 279-2120 or email jmangialardi@wfmt.com.
