Several months ago there was a show which played 2 lovely renditions of Stephen Foster songs. I can't remember the singer's name and I would like to purchase the CD with his songs.

It would be interesting to have a program, or series, about this. Even if one doesn't start very early with the Missa "L'homme arme", it would be fun, for example, to play the jolly little 6/8 dance tune which Bach turned into the St Matthew Passion chorale "O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden", in all its wondrous harmonizations. Mozart famously wrote variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, maman". There is also the original folksong version of "Heidenroeslein" which was adapted by Schubert, Brahms' Academic Festival overture, Benjamin Britten's setting of "Down by the Salley Gardens" - just to name a few.
