I have to tell you all up front that I am new to the world of classical music, so I need your help and suggestions. I've been listening to my Arlington station WRR where Exploring Music comes on in the evenings. A few weeks ago I was driving in my car listening to the program about Hungarian (?) Gypsy music.. and the piece I was listening to was so wonderful and captivating that I completely forgot my exit! Now I want to delve into this more! It's taken me some time to figure out where to direct these questions, but I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down the day/playlist/artists that may have been on this particular episode.. or even suggest songs and composers to begin with. As I said, I'm new to all this -the only music I've ever really been intersted in is alternative rock. But I can tell you that I LOVED the music on that specific show and I love anything that has a romantic (or even sort of dark) tone to it. And I love violins. So if you can help me begin my navigation of this new and unfamiliar musical world, please respond! I appreciate -and thank you- for any comments and suggestions! Oh and the timeframe for what I heard MAY have been middle/late march to early April. I think.
