This week's series on "The Roaring Twenties" took at least a small nibble out of my proposal, since it included the work of Walter Piston. I had been thinking about "American Musical Voices: 1930-1960", featuring the works of some of our fabulous but insufficiently-admired American Neoromantic and Neoclassical composers, such as David Diamond, Howard Hanson, Norman Dello Joio, Samuel Barber, Roy Harris and Randall Thompson, as well as Piston. Lyricism, accessibility and spaciousness are the shared hallmarks of these quintessentially American musical voices. I think it would be a great series!

First, I'd like to express my gratitude for your engaging, enlightening, and comforting program; it has become standard listening for our evening hours.
Then, two composers whose music you might consider featuring (before I think of two thousand more) would be Claudio Monteverdi and Heinrich Schuetz. And how about some great Lieder singers, past and present?

I would love to hear a week of Requiems ( Requia??). The Verdi and the Faure' and the Mozart would be great.
