From The Recording Horn with Andy Karzas
Saturdays at 4:00 pm
Andy Karzas (1934-2011) was host of From the Recording Horn and a recognized and admired expert on opera and historic singers. From the Recording Horn began as a weekly series in 1976 and has continued every Saturday afternoon with rare recordings from Andy's own collection. Each week, he presented opera and lieder rarities from the 78 rpm era, of special interest to collectors and to fans of the great vocal artists of the past. Most of the recordings from Andy’s vast collection have not been reissued, and many of them featured actual stage performances by the operatic stars of yesteryear. Andy informed, uplifted and inspired us all through his brilliant presentations. In addition to radio work on WFMT, Andy lectured extensively on opera for Lyric Opera of Chicago and other organizations.
Rebroadcasts of From the Recording Horn will continue at 4:00 pm Saturdays.
