Live From Wigmore Hall
Wigmore Hall and the WFMT Radio Network teamed up to bring you a new 13-week, 1-hour series of Live From Wigmore Hall. Produced by Darius Weinberg of Wigmore Hall and hosted by Jon Tolansky, these programs will culminate in works featuring some of the most outstanding solo and chamber artists of our time performing in concerts at the Wigmore Hall - the world's most famous and sought after chamber music venue.
Some of the performances are drawn from the Wigmore Hall's archive and some have been issued on its CD label, Wigmore Hall Live. Additionally, some performances have not yet taken place, and there will be some short intermission cameos of some of the most famous occasions in the Wigmore Hall's unique history.
Wigmore Hall holds a unique place in London musical life and over the years has been an essential platform for the world's most sought-after soloists and chamber musicians. It also fosters the careers of talented young artists, some of them making their first professional appearance in London. Wigmore Hall presents over 400 events each season, attracting appreciative and exceptionally loyal audiences and selling some 165,000 tickets each year. Concerts are broadcast weekly to national and international audiences on radio and the internet through a partnership with BBC Radio 3. The Hall launched its own recording label, Wigmore Hall Live, in 2005 with a growing number of releases available for sale in retail outlets worldwide.
Live From Wigmore Hall is hosted and produced on location in the Hall itself. Executive Producers are the Hall's Director, John Gilhooly and WFMT's Vice President & General Manager, Steve Robinson, along with host Jon Tolansky and series producer Darius Weinberg.
