This is the classical music trip you’ve been waiting for!  Join WFMT Program Host Peter van de Graaff for an exclusive 11-day classical music excursion down the Danube, visiting and experiencing Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Leipzig and Berlin.  Celebrate the genius of Mozart, Strauss, Beethoven, Bach and Schumann by visiting the very places where these great composers lived, loved and composed.

We will be attending world-class performances including insider perks and backstage tours.  The highlight of the trip – and an evening to be cherished – will be a private, intimate concert by Peter and Kathleen van de Graaff performing works by Robert and Clara Schumann in the very home where Robert and Clara Schumann lived and worked:  The Schumann House in Leipzig!

La Suissse Romande

Opera in La Suissse Romande!

April 20-25, 2015

Spend a lovely spring week in in Geneva and Lausanne with Opera Adventures and noted composer, pianist, and teacher, Larry Axelrod, experiencing a trio of operatic treats in two lovely cities filled with beautiful music and beautiful scenery. You’ll stay in Geneva at Hôtel Strasbourg, centrally located in quiet surroundings, in the heart of the business district, near the famous Mont Blanc pedestrian precinct and Lake Leman. The first performance will be Cherubini’s Medea in Geneva, sung by the amazing Jennifer Larmore. Then you’ll hear a recital by Diana Damrau, one of the most celebrated and sought-after sopranos in the world, in songs by Richard Strauss. Finally, in Lausanne, you’ll see Japanese composer Dai Fujikura’s multi-media experience Solaris at L’Opéra de Lausanne played by the renowned Ensemble Intercontemporain from Paris.

For greater understanding and perspective, you’ll enjoy morning classes about learn about that evening’s performance. The trip will also include a private, guided tour in and around Geneva. You’ll have several afternoons free to explore art and cultural attractions in Geneva and other closeby picturesque lake towns -- Montreux, Vevey and Lausanne.
