WFMT listeners joined Carl Grapentine and Travelex on a memorable trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico in August, 2009. Highlights of the trip included a 3-night stay at the 5-Star Inn & Spa at Loretto and visits to the world famous "Santa Fe Indian Market, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and the Santa Fe Opera. Travelex guests enjoyed Carl's pre-performance lectures and were enthralled with performances of "Don Giovanni" and "La Traviata" at the Santa Fe Opera House.

New York City with Andy Karzas: March 2009

Opera lovers joined host Andy Karzas for three memorable nights at the Metropolitan, March 10-13, 2009. They enjoyed Verdi's Il trovatore with Sondra Radvanovsky, Marcelo Alvarez, Dolora Zajick and Dmitri Hvorostovsky. On Wednesday they saw Bellini's glorious La sonnambula with Natalie Dessay and Juan Diego Florez. And finally on Thursday they heard Dvorak's truly beautiful Russalka with Renée Fleming and Stephanie Blythe.

New York City with Lisa Flynn: October 2007

WFMT listeners in New York City for the Metropolitan Opera

Lisa Flynn hosted an exciting weekend of music and sightseeing in New York City this October. The trip began with the New York Philharmonic led by Lorin Maazel in an all-Tchaikovsky concert. Then it was the Metropolitan Opera for Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor with Natalie Dessay as Lucia, Marcello Giordani as Edgardo, Mariusz Kwiecien as Enrico, and John Relyea as Raimondo. The next night they were back at the Met for Gounod's Romeo and Juliet featuring today's most celebrated operatic couple: Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon.

WFMT host Carl Grapentine in Santa Fe for Santa Fe Opera Festival

Highlights: The entire city of Santa Fe was sold out for the Santa Fe Opera Festival. Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème, and Mozart's Così fan tutti, the Desert Chorale, a special meeting with Nicole Cabelle, all with the inimitable Carl Grapentine.

South America with Andy Karzas: April 2006

In April of 2006, WFMT's opera expert Andy Karzas led a classical-music-focused tour of South America, visting various cities in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. Highlights included San Cristóbal Hill in the valley of the Andes, the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra at the Teatro Municipal, an evening at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires with a performance of "Don Giovanni," Iguassu National Park, and the São Bento Monastery in Rio de Janeiro.
