WFMT's Rich Warren Named Broadcaster of the Year by the North American Folk Alliance

Chicago, IL - Rich Warren, host of The Midnight Special, 98.7 WFMT's weekly celebration of folk music and farce, show tunes and satire, odds and ends, madness and escape, has been voted Broadcaster of the Year by the North American Folk Alliance. The announcement was made last night at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, Tennessee. This marks the third year of the Annual Folk Awards show, recognizing excellence by artists and businesses in the folk music industry.

Commenting on the honor, Warren said, "While the members of the North American Folk Alliance honored me with this award, I am most grateful to my listeners who invite me to share music with them every week, as well as to WFMT which allows me to continue the tradition of The Midnight Special."

Kicking off the 20th International Folk Alliance Conference, the Folk Awards were presented to honor merit and achievement within the field.

"In my 40 years in radio, I've never met anyone who works so hard on and with such devotion to a single program, said Steve Robinson, General Manager and Senior Vice President for Radio, 98.7WFMT and The WFMT Radio Network. "Rich deserves this high honor and distinction, and I know everyone at WFMT joins me in congratulating him on this singular achievement."
