98.7WFMT to Broadcast Special
Inauguration Day Programming
Peter Whorf, Program Director of 98.7WFMT, Chicago's Classical Experience, is pleased to announce that the radio station will devote Inauguration Day - Tuesday, January 20 - to a special slate of programming as follows:
- American music by such composers as Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and Leonard Bernstein
- President-Elect Obama's Inaugural Address, broadcast live;
- Broadcast of the musical elements from the ceremony, and exclusive pre-taped interviews with Inauguration Day performers Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Gabriela Montero, and Anthony McGill about their road to the ceremonies, plus some of their notable recordings
- Call-ins from Chicago-area 98.7WFMT listeners attending the event, who will hopefully provide commentary on what they are seeing and hearing at this historic event. 98.7WFMT announcers will solicit the assistance of perspective participants in advance on the air
- An opportunity for listeners to submit their suggestions, via email and voicemail, to the new President on ways to emphasize the importance of the arts to America’s cultural landscape, and how to promote increased funding for it.
