In this week leading up to the 2019 Academy Awards, we played music this morning by Sergei Prokofiev who became one of the first composers of international repute to write music for films. We heard selections from the score Prokofiev provided for a 1934 Soviet comedy film which tells the story of a non-existent soldier. He’s provided an identity, a heroic military background, a wife, and even a funeral which the Czar attends lamenting the loss of such a hero. What’s the title of this film?
