Pianist Maurizio Pollini, “the pre-eminent Chopinist of his generation” (Fanfare), continues his revelatory re-exploration of the Polish master’s late works. As in previous releases, Pollini performs compositions that are chronologically closely related, highlighting the individual character of each work in its context. These recordings are the pianist’s latest thoughts on Opp. 55-58, including the B minor Sonata and Berceuse. All the music was composed between 1843 and 1844 and published soon afterwards.
