Beethoven’s first two contributions to the symphonic genre reveal the bubbling creativity of a 30-year-old composer determined to renew the genre. These works are combined with two symphonies by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach in lively performances by the Berlin Academy for Ancient Music. The ensemble was founded in 1982 in Berlin, and since its beginnings, has become one of the world’s leading chamber orchestras on period instruments.
