All February long, WFMT highlights Black artists through special programming, recordings, and features.

On Saturday, February 4, WFMT is proud to present a day of programming to help launch Black History Month on air.

11am: INTRODUCTIONS

Black History Month Highlights

Teenage performers play music by Black composers old and new: Montgomery, Dett, Hailstork, Still, Perkinson, and Walker.

Noon: MET OPERA

A Classic Met Macbeth

Sherrill Milnes stars in the title role of Giuseppe Verdi's opera setting of Shakespeare's Macbeth. Iconic and trailblazing Black soprano Martina Arroyo stars opposite as Lady Macbeth.

4pm: LISTENING TO SINGERS

African-American Bass-Baritones

Spotlighting Paul Robeson, William Warfield, Simon Estes, Eric Owens, and Ryan Speedo Green with rising star bass-baritone Nicholas Newton.

9pm: THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL

Rosa Parks

An evening of musical tributes to Rosa Parks, a key figure in the Civil Rights Movement and US History.
