All month long, WFMT highlights women artists and composers through special programming, recordings, and features.

On March, February 4, WFMT is proud to present a day of programming to help launch Women's History Month on air.

11am: INTRODUCTIONS

Women’s History Month Highlights

Teenage performers play music by women composers including Clara Schumann, Lili Boulanger, Augusta Read Thomas, and Nokuthula Ngwenyama.

Noon: MET OPERA

Donizetti’s La Favorita

An 1978 performance featuring trailblazing soprano Shirley Verrett alongside Luciano Pavarotti.

4pm: LISTENING TO SINGERS

Golda Schultz on Songs by Female Composers

Schultz, who stars in Lyric’s upcoming Carmen, discusses the album This Be Her Verse which showcases repertoire written by women.

8pm: FOLKSTAGE

Gina Forsyth & Heather Styka

Forsyth, a Cajun fiddler/songwriter, shares the bill with Styka, a lyrical Chicago-bred songstress live from Acoustic Renaissance Concerts in Hinsdale.
