Join us in launching Hispanic Heritage Month on WFMT. Over the course of the month, we’ll share music written and composed by Hispanic and Latin American artists, including a special evening with Osvaldo Golijov, an archival Studs Terkel interview with Chilean musicians Inti-Illimani, and a BBC Proms performance that opens with the UK premiere of a work by Jimmy López Bellido.

On Saturday, September 16, join us to start the month with the following programming:

Introductions | Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month Highlights

11:00 am — Recent performance highlights of music with roots in Argentina, Mexico, the US, and more. Link

Listening to Singers | Ailyn Pérez in Recital

4:00 pm — The Chicago-born soprano recently performed with pianist Kevin Murphy at Ravinia. Link

Fiesta | 20th Century Masters

7:00 pm — Enriching music of the past century, including by Ponce, Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, and more. Link

And don’t forget to tune in to Fiesta all month (and all year) long. WFMT’s weekly series showcases the diverse and rich contributions of Hispanic and Latin American composers and artists to the classical canon!
