Ravinia co-commissioned this new monodrama on Homerian themes by André Previn for its 2019 season, scheduling it right on the heels of its world premiere at Tanglewood. Soprano Renée Fleming portrays Odysseus’s long-suffering wife alongside the Emerson String Quartet, who preface Previn’s final completed work with instrumental preludes by Haydn and Barber.
