Playing the six unaccompanied cello suites by Bach is always a bit of a homecoming for Yo-Yo Ma — the inimitable cellist has recorded the pieces three times, the most recent of which was last fall. Since that recording, he’s toured the pieces around the world. True to Ma’s penchant for cultural ambassadorship, each performance is paired with a “day of action” — programming aimed to facilitate cultural dialogue.
June 20 at 6:30 p.m.; Day of Action June 21 (further details TBA). Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Free on the lawn, seats available for donations ranging from $75–225. Link
