Cities all over the world have put on their own summer solstice music festivals based on France’s own Fête de la Musique, but the City of Big Shoulders goes especially big with its take. This annual celebration encompasses hundreds of free performances and workshops across the city. You can pack your instrument and head to Humboldt Park Boathouse for a play-along with the Chicago Philharmonic at 3 p.m., with plenty of time left over to stop by the Aloha Center at 6 p.m. for a ukulele jam. Keep your eyes peeled for the complete list of events, announced June 1.
