The Chicago-based contemporary music collective trades green rooms for green spaces in a weekend of free performances for all ages at the end of June. Saturday they’ll touch down at the historic Hamilton Park Fieldhouse in Englewood, then the next day it’s off to Garfield Park Conservatory to play among the flowers. In both performances, the Grammy-winning sextet is joined by Matt Ulery Trio, ~Nois saxophone quartet, and Juxtatonal, a voice and cello duo; Saturday’s concert is followed by a drum circle led by saxophonist and Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) disciple Ernest Dawkins.
June 22 at Hamilton Park and June 23 at Garfield Park Conservatory, both at 3:00 pm. Free. Link.
