Produced by Classical Music Chicago, the series is named for pianist Myra Hess, who organized over 1500 free concerts for Londoners during World War II. Enjoy solo recitals and ensemble performances from some of classical music’s brightest rising talent, presenting thrilling repertoire across eras and instruments.

Anna Han, piano

Pianist Anna Han received the second prize at the 2023 Naumburg International Piano Competition and first prize at the 2023 National Federation of Music Clubs Competition. She performs her own arrangement of two Robert Schumann pieces and works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Unsuk Chin, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Sergei Prokofiev, live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago.

Avery Gagliano, piano

Pianist Avery Gagliano was the First Prize and Best Concerto Prize winner of the 2020 National Chopin Piano Competition, and semifinalist at the 18th International Chopin Competition in 2021. She perform works by George Frideric Handel, Maurice Ravel, Nikolai Medtner, live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago.

Olivia Jakyoung Huh, cello and Victor Asuncion, piano

Cellist Olivia Jakyoung Huh has won numerous international competitions including first prize and special prize at the Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition. Pianist Victor Asuncion has been hailed by The Washington Post for his “poised and imaginative playing”, and is the founder and artistic and board director of FilAm Music Foundation.
