Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas is the third generation of his family to pursue an artistic career in this country. His grandparents, immigrants Boris and Bessie Thomashefsky, were founding members of the Yiddish Theater in America. His father, Ted Thomas, worked in Broadway and Hollywood. In 1986, Michael and Ted shared a lively hour of music and memories with Studs Terkel.
