Would you like to be a WFMT host?

Are you passionate about classical music? Do you have a deep knowledge of many languages? Is your voice pleasant and engaging? And can you pass our famous Nichols test with flying colors?

If you answered “yes” to all of these, you might be the new voice WFMT is looking for! This month, we’re beginning the search for a new radio part-time announcer. As part of the award-winning WFMT team, you would join the ranks of countless other unforgettable personalities who have graced our airwaves and made their mark on Chicago’s cultural life.

Please fill out the form below. Once you have sent your application, please do not inquire about the status of your application, as WFMT will reach out to those called back for another round of auditions.

Of course, the more articulate and passionate you are in your application, the more likely it is that you will be called in. We encourage you to spend time on your application and save long-form responses in a word processor before submitting.

About WFMT

WFMT has been recognized as one of the leading broadcasters of classical music in the United States for more than sixty years, lauded for its high audio standards and broadcasts of live concerts in the Chicago area. Through the WFMT Radio Network and its Beethoven and Jazz Networks, the station offers broadcasts of major symphony concerts, grand opera, jazz, and folk music to over 650 outlets in the U.S. and around the world. While virtually every other radio station in the Chicago market has changed format or call letters, WFMT has remained dedicated to its founding principles, namely its mission to present excellent programming to the widest possible audience.
