Jan Weller on Weekdays, Kristina Lynn on Weekends
A Legacy of Musical Curiosity Continues with a New Voice
CHICAGO – December 15, 2025 – WFMT, Chicago’s classical music radio station, announced today that longtime WFMT host and producer Jan Weller has been named the new host of its weekday Morning Music program, airing Monday through Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 am beginning Monday, December 15. WFMT host Kristina Lynn will become the new weekend morning music host, on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm beginning Saturday, December 20.
“The voices of our hosts are the heart of WFMT,” said Roger Wight, WFMT Head of Programming and Operations. “I’m thrilled that listeners will enjoy friendly companionship and an inviting mix of classical music with Jan on weekdays and Kristina on weekends. Both bring an engaging presence and unique musical perspective to mornings on WFMT.”
A veteran of WFMT with nearly three decades of service, Jan Weller has worked as both a host and producer for the station since 1995. He began his radio career while still a music student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and went on to work at public radio stations in North Carolina, Oregon, and Wisconsin Public Radio. Since arriving at WFMT, Jan has served in a variety of roles and has contributed to a wide range of projects, including on location in Israel and South Africa for the WFMT Radio Network. In 2002, he won a Peter Lisagor Award for the documentary The Making of Princess Magogo. He is an avid listener to music of all sorts and attends as many concerts as he can.
“WFMT has been my musical home for many years, and it’s an honor to be with our listeners to start the day,” said Weller. “I look forward to sharing familiar favorites, new discoveries, and the sense of curiosity and joy that classical music can bring to the morning.”
Kristina Lynn joined the WFMT hosting staff in 2020 and now serves as the host of weekend morning music. She has hosted live performances and artist interviews on WFMT, including the Rush Hour Concerts and the Grant Park Music Festival. She holds a degree in trumpet performance from DePaul University. Prior to joining WFMT, Lynn worked in radio production at WQXR in New York.
“One of my favorite things about my role at WFMT is welcoming all types of listeners to classical music, whether they’re lifelong fans or just getting started,” said Lynn. “The weekend morning playlists are full of both lively and introspective musical moments, and I can’t wait to share them all with the WFMT audience.”
Together, Weller and Lynn will build on WFMT’s history and reputation for classical music radio excellence, creating programming that is accessible and inspires curiosity and exploration. Both hosts will report to WFMT Lead and Midday Host Lisa Flynn.
