On Saturday’s broadcast, we present the second of three programs featuring the 2015 Emilio del Rosario Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition. The competition was at Symphony Center on June 14, 2015. Francesco Milioto conducted the New Millennium Orchestra of Chicago.

The Second Prize Winner, 19 year old Yijia Wang, will be featured in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor.
Bryce Dessner, a member of the popular band The National, collaborated with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra in May 2015.

To begin the program, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Bryce Dessner’s St. Carolyn by the Sea will be heard. Dessner is a guitarist and composer, and he is also a member of the popular band The National. He performed with guitarist Gyan Riley at the CYSO’s May 17, 2015 concert in Orchestra Hall.
