On the first half of Saturday’s broadcast, we present the second of two programs featuring winners from the 2015 DePaul Concerto Festival for Young Performers. This annual competition gives young musicians the opportunity to perform movements of a concerto with the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mina Zikri. On the second half of the program, we’ll hear another concerto, but one for orchestra. The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) performs Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra from their November 2014 concert at Symphony Center.

  • Vorspiel – Allegro moderato from Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 26, by Max Bruch
Performed by Karisa Chiu, violin, with the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra

  • Allegro moderato from Violin Concerto in G Major, by Franz Joseph Haydn
Performed by Anna Stenzel, violin, with the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra

  • Concerto for Orchestra, by Witold Lutosławski
Performed by the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra
