Mature composers often discover ways to enhance their defined voices and styles that create entirely new sounds. Both Mozart and Brahms fell in love with the clarinet late in their lives and created unparalleled masterpieces. Some of Brahms’s music even gives the impression that the clarinet gave a new purpose to his art. This week will evoke feelings of sadness, but only because these great artists are creating their final works and taking their last bows.
