String Quartet Diamant and Cindy Yang, piano

On Saturday’s broadcast, we feature a string quartet and pianist. String Quartet Diamant recently won the Gold Medal at the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, Indiana, one of the most prestigious youth music competitions in the country. The quartet was formed at the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory in Fall 2015. Its members include violinists Masha Lakisova and Rebecca Moy, violist Natalie Clarke, and cellist Adam Lee. In February 2016, Quartet Diamant won first place at the Rembrandt High School Chamber Music Competition and received an Honorable Mention at the Discover National Chamber Music Competition. Their coach is Robert Bassill.

Pianist Cindy Yang has performed at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall as a winner in the American Fine Arts Festival. Pianist Cindy Yang, 16, is a junior at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois. She started playing the piano at age five and currently studies piano with Sueanne Metz. Cindy has won awards at various piano competitions, including the Illinois State Music Teachers Association (ISMTA) Competition, the North West Music Teachers Association Awards (NWMTA) Competition, and the Music Festival in Honor of Confucius. In 2010, she performed at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall as a winner of the American Fine Arts Festival. She was also the Piano Category Winner at the 2013 Walgreens National Concerto Competition and the Winner of the 2014 Emilio del Rosario Piano Concerto Competition.
