New World String Quartet of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra

The New World String Quartet is composed of Nicole Tong, Micah Yoo, Beatrice Chen, and Noah Chen. All members are freshmen in high school. Violinists Nicole Tong and Micah Yoo share first and second violin positions for the quartet, and both study with Desirée Ruhstrat. Violist Beatrice Chen studies with Paul Neubauer, and cellist Noah Chen studies with Hans Jorgen Jensen. They are all members of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras’ Symphony Orchestra. The quartet has been together for two years and is currently coached by Minghuan Xu. The New World String Quartet has performed at various events such as the 2014/15 Soiree Cédille and a Chicago Symphony Orchestra family concert in 2015. Most recently, they performed in a series of recitals at Pianoforte Studios.
