On Saturday’s live broadcast, we feature 16 year old pianist John Cao.

John is a student at John Hersey High School and studies piano with Alan Chow at Northwestern University. John has also participated in masterclasses with Professor Robert McDonald of the Curtis Institute and Julliard School, Gilmore Artist Award recipient Kirill Gerstein, and pianist Spencer Myer, among others.

John’s awards include first prizes at the Walgreens Open Senior Piano competition, Inernational Valery Kuleshov Piano Competition, TMTA 10th Grade Piano Solo Competition, Clear Lake Concerto Competition, Austin Piano Festival, and he also received the grand prize at the McKinney Young Artists State Competition. This summer, John will be representing the United States at the Yamaha E-Competition.

In addition to being a pianist, John also sings. He made the 2015 and 2016 Texas All-State Choruses and the 2017 Illinois Honors Chorus as a soloist and also studies voice with Evan Boyer.
