For her first-ever recording of Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter teamed up with piano virtuoso Daniil Trifonov and three young soloists from the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation. “Chamber music is at once the most personal and the most emotional music of all,” says Mutter. “The greatest works of music history were written for chamber ensemble.” For Trifonov, this includes Schubert’s works: “They’re so pure, so simple in structure, so forthright in expression.” Their first collaboration resulted in a vibrant performance, recorded at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.
