French pianist Lise de la Salle’s new album is a profound and elegant tribute to the timeless genius of Bach, presenting works from across three centuries by Bach, Liszt, Busoni, Roussel, Poulenc and Thomas Enhco. De la Salle came to international attention at the age of 16 with an enthusiastically-received Bach/Liszt recording that belied her young age. Now, a decade later she returns to Bach once again. She says, “Bach is to the pianist what the barre is to the dancer: our support, our working tool, the basis for doing everything, playing everything afterwards.”
