On Saturday’s broadcast, we feature musicians of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO). We’ll first hear CYSO Symphony Orchestra perform Samuel Barber’s Symphony No. 1, a performance from their Symphony Center concert on May 20, 2018. On the second half of the program, we feature CYSO’s Ventus Wind Quintet. Their members include 18-year-old flutist Hope Rogers, 16-year-old oboist Nate Sanchez, 18-year-old clarinetist Kevin Meaux, 17-year-old horn player Ryan Williamson, 18-year-old bassoonist Emmy Hensley, and they are coached by Don DeRoche. Ventus has performed with the Orion Ensemble, and they also participated in a special recording project of Leo J. Kauffmann’s Wind Quintet.
