The Neave Trio celebrates Astor Piazzolla’s rich legacy through arrangements, by one of Piazzolla’s longtime colleagues and by a younger protégé. “All three of us wear many musical hats, emulating other sounds and instruments,” says Anna Williams. “Sometimes we provide percussion. At times we were inspired by the sounds of bandoneón, accordion, guitar, viola, and double bass.” Mezzo-soprano Carla Jablonski joins the trio for several songs by Piazzolla as well as an original work by Leonardo Suárez Paz. Since forming in 2010, the Neave Trio – violinist Anna Williams, cellist Mikhail Veselov, and pianist Eri Nakamura – has earned enormous praise for its engaging, cutting-edge performances.
