On Saturday’s live broadcast, we feature 17-year-old pianist Kimberly Han. Kimberly is a Steinway Young Artist, a 2016-2018 Lang Lang Young Scholar, a four-year full scholarship recipient of the Chopin Foundation of the United States (2016-2020), and a two-time National YoungArts Foundation winner (2017-2018). She currently studies with Alexander Korsantia (New England Conservatory), and Brenda Huang (Music Institute of Chicago).
Kimberly is a senior at Lake Forest High School, and frequently performs in Chicago and beyond. In 2015, she was the winner of the Crain-Maling Foundation Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition. In 2014, she won the 11th DePaul Concerto Festival. Internationally, she has performed at L’Auditori in Barcelona, Spain, at the Oxford Music Festival in the United Kingdom, at the Andermatt Swiss Alps Classics festival in Switzerland, and at the Emanacje Music Festival in Poland.
In addition to her achievements as a pianist, Kimberly is an avid violinist, and performs with the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC) Symphony Orchestra and her own chamber ensemble. She also loves to give back to the community by performing extensively in retirement centers across the Chicagoland area, and by teaching violin to children in underprivileged school districts through the MYAC Young Music Scholar program.
