CHICAGO, IL – May 1, 2019 – Classical WFMT, Chicago’s classical radio station, has announced that it will kick off the summer with its second annual WFMT Beach Party on Memorial Day – Monday, May 27 – at the outdoor grotto just south of Theater on the Lake, 2401 N. Lake Shore Drive (at Fullerton Avenue). The live broadcast, which WFMT will also share on its Facebook page, will welcome audiences from 10:00 am-4:00 pm, rain or shine.
WFMT hosts Maggie Clennon Reberg and Lisa Flynn will welcome the vocal quartet Chi-Guys, who will present patriotic and American classic songs; Third Coast Baroque; lutist/guitarist Brandon J. Acker (a popular guest last year), and other surprises for performances and interviews that will be live on WFMT, wfmt.com, and on Facebook. Audience members will have the opportunity to interact with the hosts, participate in contests and games, win prizes, get a souvenir WFMT beach ball, and enjoy lots of summertime and Americana music. Food and beverages are available at the Theater on the Lake’s Lakefront Restaurant, a casual dining establishment and upscale tavern just steps from the grotto. The WFMT Beach Party is free and open to the public; no reservations required.
“We had such a great time putting on this event last year,” said WFMT Program Director David Polk. “It was great to meet so many of our loyal listeners and make new friends while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine at our beautiful lakefront. We look forward to another fun experience this year.”
