Thomas Hooten, Principal Trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, had a dream. He wanted to record John Williams’ Trumpet Concerto with the composer conducting. This album is the realization of that dream. Hooten grew up with the music of Williams. He remembers going to the movies at the age of 17 to see Jurassic Park, with its thrilling brass fanfare, and thinking, “that was the coolest thing I’ve ever heard.” Since then, he has become one of the nation’s top classical trumpet players, including stints with the United States Marine Band, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and since 2012, the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
