Maria Callas will return to Chicago in September. No, we’re not kidding.

Maria Callas will return to Chicago’s Lyric Opera House on September 7, 2019 for one night only. Yes, you read that right. But La Divina’s performance will be different from any other classical recital you’ve seen. That’s because this one-of-a kind concert experience will feature a hologram of the legendary soprano!

The performance will be accompanied by an orchestra of living, breathing artists. Conductor Eímar Noone will lead the Lyric Opera Orchestra as the holographic diva performs some of her signature arias by Verdi, Bellini, Puccini, and more. Brought back to the stage by BASE Hologram and the wonders of modern digital and laser projection, Callas’ stop in Chicago will be part of her ongoing tour through North America and Europe.

Seeing is believing, so you may just need to take a look at this video excerpt of Callas’ performance with a modern-day orchestra.

What do you think about creating holographic versions of deceased artists? Are there other performers you would like to see resurrected in hologram form?
