With Russia home to both his formative years and competition triumphs, pianist Dong Hyek Lim brings a special sensitivity to the pathos and lyricism of Rachmaninoff. Lim is joined in the enduringly popular Second Concerto by the BBC Symphony Orchestra with fellow Moscow Conservatory alumnus Alexander Vedernikov, and by regular collaborator and piano legend Martha Argerich in the composer’s two-piano version of his lush and rhythmic Symphonic Dances.
