Formed in 2003 by conductor François-Xavier Roth, Les Siècles comprises outstanding young players from leading French ensembles. The orchestra’s repertoire is notably wide in range. It uses both period and modern instruments, playing each repertoire on appropriate instruments. This new reading by Les Siècles of Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique is based on a close study of the composer’s autograph score and benefits from an intimate familiarity with period instruments, which here include the church bell of his hometown, La-Côte Saint-André.
