Monday, December 9 — Alon Goldstein at the Ravinia Festival

Alon Goldstein is one of the most original and sensitive artists of his generation, admired for his musical intelligence and dynamic personality. His artistic vision and innovative programming have made him a favorite with audiences and critics alike throughout the United States, Europe, and Israel. Goldstein performed in the Ravinia Festival’s Bennett Gordon Hall on September 8, 2019.

Tuesday, December 10— Chicago Brass Choir: Pictures in Brass

The Chicago Brass Choir plays music from the Renaissance to the late Romantic period on their album Pictures in Brass. John Hagstrom, trumpeter with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, is the featured soloist on two works: Ernst Sachse’s Concertino in E-flat and Vincenzo Bellini’s Oboe Concerto, arranged by musical director Michael Stewart.

Wednesday, December 11 — Pianist Inga Kashakashvili at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series

Georgian-born pianist Inga Kashakashvili has performed at major venues around the world, among them Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall, Merkin Hall, Lyric Opera (Chicago), and Barbican Centre (London). Acclaimed reviewers have praised her as “a stellar soloist” (Gramophone) and “persuasive, authoritative” (Hudson Falls).

Thursday, December 12 — Chicago Panamerican Ensemble at the Chicago Latino Music Festival

The Chicago Panamerican Ensemble was founded in 2008. The CPE engages some of Chicago’s finest musicians in chamber music that ranges from Baroque to contemporary with an emphasis on promoting composers from Latin America. The ensemble performed music from Mexico, Argentina, and Uruguay on November 6, 2019, at the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium.

Friday, December 13 — Chicago a cappella: Holiday Program

Chicago a cappella, heralded as “the area’s best unaccompanied group,” brought a new collection of songs for the season to their 2019 “Holidays a cappella” program.  The ten-member ensemble reveled in Renaissance and contemporary works, alongside classic Christmas carols in new arrangements and festive music for Chanukah. The program was created and prepared by guest music director Paul Nicholson.
