From September 2018, Riccardo Muti leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade—featuring concertmaster Robert Chen—after the program opens with Mozart’s Overture to Don Giovanni and the Symphony No. 40 in G Minor. A 1961 RCA recording of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, led by sixth music director Fritz Reiner, concludes the broadcast.
