Since its formation in 2008, Ensemble Correspondances has devoted itself chiefly to French sacred music of the 17th century. On this recording, they leave Paris for an excursion to the shores of the Baltic, between Lübeck and Stockholm, to explore Lutheran music before Bach, from Dietrich Buxtehude to Heinrich Schütz and the rarely heard Lüdert Dijkman. The works devoted to the Passion of Christ, in particular, reflect a mystical universe imbued with a mysterious beauty.
