Balourdet Quartet

Monday, May 9 — Lincoln Trio

The twice-Grammy-nominated Lincoln Trio — violinist Desirée Ruhstrat, cellist David Cunliffe, and pianist Marta Aznavoorian — offers engaging, rarely heard piano trios by 20th-century Chicago composers Leo Sowerby and Ernst Bacon. Bacon’s Trio No. 2 (1987) receives its world-premiere recording.

Martin Davids is a violinist with a busy career who has performed all across the United States. In Chicago, he founded the Callipygian Players and works with Haymarket Opera, Music of the Baroque, Chicago Opera Theater, and with just about anyone presenting Baroque music.

Wednesday, May 11 —Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert: Balourdet Quartet

The Balourdet Quartet, based in Boston, is currently in residence at the New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program. The quartet received the Grand Prize at the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition as well as the top prize awarded in the 2021 Premio Paolo Borciani in Italy.
