In the first of two productions from Opera Festival of Chicago (the organization’s debut in the WFMT Opera Series), Giuseppe Verdi’s bombastic 1848 opera Il Corsaro plunges us into the swashbuckling world of seafaring pirates. The production features Jose Simerilla Romero as Corrado, Christine Arand as Medora, Franco Pomponi as Seid, and more. Emanuele Andrizzi conducts.
