The featured young soloist today is Tabitha Mo, a flute student of Hideko Amano. Tabitha plays music by Nielsen, Mozart, Still, and Sarasate in WFMT’s Fay and Daniel Levin Performance Studio, joined by pianist Inah Chiu.
Tabitha Mo, age 16, is a sophomore at William Fremd High School in Palatine and studies flute with Hideko Amano. Most recently, she won first prize in the 2022 Chicago International Music Competition Young Artist Division, and also received first prize from the 2022 Society of American Musicians Intermediate Division. Tabitha has received numerous awards in the past which include third prize in the senior division of the Chicago Flute Club Competition in 2021 and second prize in the Elementary division, and Honorable Mention from the DePaul Concerto Festival. She was also awarded winner of Other Instruments Category of the Walgreens National Concerto Competition Orchestral Division in 2019.
Tabitha plays in the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. This past summer she participated at the Illinois Summer Youth Music Flute Camp in Champaign, studying with Professor Jonathan Keeble. Tabitha receives coachings and has played in masterclasses of Alyce Johnson, Anthony Trionfo, and Dr. Jonathan Keeble.
English is Tabitha’s favorite subject in school because she enjoys writing, and in her spare time, Tabitha enjoys drawing.
