Erina Yashima — former Sir Georg Solti Conducting Apprentice — makes her CSO podium debut leading Mead Composer-in-Residence Jessie Montgomery‘s Strum, along with works by Coleridge-Taylor and Kodály, plus Schubert‘s Fifth Symphony. Rounding out the broadcast, fifth music director Rafael Kubelík conducts Bartók‘s Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta from a 1951 Mercury recording.
