This Introductions piano recital features Tyler Wang of Wilmette, a student of Katherine Lee. His program comprises music by Fanny Mendelssohn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and Maurice Ravel.



Tyler Wang is currently a senior attending New Trier High School, and he will be attending the University of Chicago as a Biological Sciences major on the pre-med track starting in fall 2023. In 2022, Tyler performed in the Skokie Public Library Young Steinway Series. After being named a winner of the 2021 DePaul Concerto Competition, Tyler performed with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago. In 2020, he was selected to participate in a masterclass led by Grammy-nominated pianist Joyce Yang at Millennium Park.

Other accolades include an honorable mention at the 2015 Confucius Competition, finalist in the 2020 & 2021 Sejong Competitions, third place at the 2018 ISMTA Competition, and being selected as a three-time MIC Merit Scholarship recipient. Tyler is a nationally rated Varsity épeé fencer; leader of the New Trier Biology Club; a tutor in Chinese, English, and Math; and euphonium player in New Trier’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
